Bernard's Choral Music

This selection of three a capella anthems (click on the links to the left) gives a feel for Bernard Trafford's formal church style. In fact, with swinging rhythms and rich sonorities, the effect is anything but formal: joyous, certainly, lively and memorable.

You are the light of the world, in eight parts, was written in 1994 to celebrate both the Millennium of St Peter's Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton, and Bernard's parents' Golden Wedding Anniversary.

O praise God in his holiness, an exuberant setting of the 150th Psalm, is also in eight parts, written for a 1995 wedding in Bath Abbey whose magnificent acoustic enhances this live recording.

O sing unto the Lord a new song was also written for a wedding, in 2009. It's a setting of text from Psalm 96 and is performed here by the original four-part (SSAB choir) who sang it at the service - the Trafford family!

Bernard generally ensures that there are also four-part SATB versions of his choral pieces.
