Dr Bernard Trafford is Headmaster of the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle upon Tyne, a leading independent school for boys and girls aged 7 to 18 in the North-East of England. He was Head of Wolverhampton Grammar School from 1990 to 2008 and was Chairman of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC) 2007-9.  Bernard regularly speaks and writes about education, particularly focusing on leadership, personal development, democracy and children’s rights.  He started his career as a musician and in his spare time still likes to write, sing and play in a variety of genres.
